BRIAN GILGER, MS, DVM
Veterinary Ophthalmologist and Toxicologist
Dr. Brian Gilger received his veterinary degree from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. After an ophthalmology residency and master’s degree at Auburn University, he joined the faculty at North Carolina State University where he is now in his 25th year. Dr. Gilger has been president of both the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists and the International Equine Ophthalmology Consortium. He is board certified in Veterinary Ophthalmology and Toxicology and is a fellow of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO). He has been recognized as a distinguished alumnus of The Ohio State University and Auburn University and was awarded the American Veterinary Medical Association Clinical Research Award in 2018. Dr. Gilger’s research is focused on ocular immunology, uveitis, and innovative therapies for ocular disease. He has authored over 170 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts, has written over 30 book chapters, and is the editor of seven books, including the 2018 Springer publication, Standards in Ocular Toxicology and Inflammation.
